What is sin?
Most people have grown up being told by pastors, teachers, and parents what sin is and having fear instilled in them in hopes that they will stop sinning. Tune in today to find out what our Heavenly Father says. Let’s get the truth – firsthand!
Believers have always been told that we were born sinners. What exactly does that mean? Is there any hope for us as sinners? Let’s see what The Father says in His word:
Psalms 51 says
Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Romans 3
For it makes no difference whether one is a Jew or a Gentile, since all have sinned and come short of earning God’s praise.
Hebrews 4
And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
We learn in YHWH’s word that Yeshua died for us to atone for our sins. (Ephesians 1) No longer needed animal sacrifice to atone for sins. Yeshua’s blood covers all of our sins and gives us access to eternal life.
John 3:16 says
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Colossians 1
He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son.
It is through his Son that we have redemption—that is, our sins have been forgiven.
Ok. So we have established that we are all born sinners. We now know that Yeshua died to atone for our sins. Now let’s determine what is sin? The only place to find the truth is from the source, YHWH’s Word.
1 John 3 says
Everyone who keeps sinning is violating Torah—indeed, sin is violation of Torah. So what is Torah? YHWH’s law for all His people, the first five books of the Bible. It’s imperative that all believers study the Torah. This is where you will find all of your answers. This is your instruction book for all things in life! It’s been here all the time!
1 John 1
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 2
I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, The Messiah Yeshua the righteous.

What is sin according to the Bible?
God’s Word is full of truth, and it gives us all the answers we seek concerning what sin is. When reading God’s word, it is important to remember that each part of scripture is relevant, and that God wants us to study His Word as a whole. So when studying verses about sin, it helps to study the whole story – all the way through God’s scriptures – instead of just taking one verse here or there. God loves us immensely, so by studying and understanding what He says sin is in the Bible we can better understand His plan for our lives and how He desires us to live as His children! Reading God’s entire story will bring abundant joy, peace, and satisfaction into our lives.
Can we be forgiven for our any sins if we repent and ask for forgiveness from God?
Yeshua’s death on the cross was not just meant to remind us of our sins, but to show us that God loves us and wants us to have a relationship with Him. Yeshua tore the veil when He died so that we can go directly to our Father in Heaven through Him, equipped with the Holy Spirit as our advocate. Ultimately, if we seek forgiveness from God and choose to turn away from sin through trust and faith in Yeshua, we are able to accept His grace and mercy, for Yeshua is the forgiver of all of our sins. Through studying and meditating on the entire Holy Bible, this truth will become increasingly evident in each believer’s life as they seek repentance from their sins. The peace and joy that comes with choosing to follow Him makes it easier to stay on the path of righteousness and no longer be tempted by sin. His Shalom peace is so amazing that you will not surrender it for anything in the world.
How can we overcome temptation and avoid sin in our daily lives?
When we’re faced with temptation and the possibility of sinning, don’t ignore your feelings. We don’t have to run from our pain; instead we can lean in to God who is a safe refuge. We don’t have to listen to the voices of those around us or in our heads, rather we can pray, study His Word and only listen to His truths He tells us. Knowing that God’s love for us never changes and He will never leave us, no matter how difficult life is makes life bearable. Allow Him to heal you and rest in His arms; this will help strengthen you when facing trials of temptations.
What are some of the consequences of sin that we may experience in this life or after death if we don’t repent and ask for forgiveness from God?
God is the authoritative source that can answer all of our questions about ourselves and how to live. When God created us, He was creating us with love, meaning each one of us has God-given identity we must safeguard. If we don’t repent of our sins, it may cause us suffering in this life or after death according to God’s laws. God is merciful though and provides a way for any transgression to be forgiven if we put God first in our hearts and be the light He asks us to be. This includes recognition that God holds authority over our lives, who we are supposed to be, and what we should not do. So rather than listening to opinions from people and the world, let’s turn our attention firstly towards God’s Word in the whole Bible – including the Old Testament – where valuable truths can be found that are relevant even today! As Jesus said in Matthew 5:16 “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Understanding these concepts will help us discover what God wants for us—true answers that are rooted in His love!
How can we have confidence that God will forgive us when we confess our sins and ask for His forgiveness?”
God has given us the ultimate answers to all our troubles; when we reach out in truth and faith He will grant us His peace within. God knew we would make mistakes, so Yeshua sent His Comforter to care for us in times of darkness or doubt. God’s truth and way have been here since the beginning of time, but it’s up to us which path we want to follow; God’s path or our own? God will forgive the sins confessed when confronted with an unwavering soul that desires redemption and wants wholeheartedly to adhere to God’s Word. The Bible can help guide us as His disciples through life and give direction on how to stay on God’s perfect path; then without fail God will have mercy upon us even when faced with our weaknesses.
