What is the feast of Purim in the Bible?
It is a day of celebration for when the exiled Jews to Persia were miraculously saved from one of the worst scheduled mass executions from Haman, an Agagite, an enemy of the Jews and advisor to the king, that had set out to kill them all. The celebration is observed on the fourteenth day of the Hebrew month of Adar which is usually February- March time frame. You will find the story in the book of Esther in what is called the Old Testament today.
It is not one of the seven commanded feasts from YHWH, but like Hanukkah, it is a time of celebration of miracles from YHWH for all His people to be remembered forever from generation to generation.
The book of Esther is a short interesting story and well worth the read. YHWH chose a special Jewish girl. Esther was her Persian name. Her Jewish name was Hadassah. There are many facets to the story, but the main focus should be how YHWH used her to save His people. It took extreme faith and courage on her part to stand up to her husband and king and risk death to ask him to save her people. There are interesting characters in this true story with great plot twists that you didn’t see coming.

The feast of Purim is a holiday that celebrates the deliverance of the Jewish people from destruction in the story of the book of Esther in the Bible. It is a time to remember how God delivered His people and to give thanks for His faithfulness. The book of Esther tells the story of how Queen Esther saved her people from the evil plot of Haman. This holiday is a reminder that God is always faithful and He will always deliver His people. So let us celebrate our Father during the feast of Purim with joy and thankfulness in our hearts!

God’s truth is revealed when we take the time to read the whole story of Purim during our Bible study. It teaches us that God is actively involved in our lives and will give us answers to our greatest and sometimes scariest questions, if we seek Him. God’s love for His people never fails and we can find the depth of His love for us through a whole Bible study. Reading the Book of Esther in its entirety helps to understand God’s power and authority over every situation, no matter how difficult it may seem. God uses the stories of Purim and other Biblical accounts to remind us that He can bring life out of death, hope out of despair, strength out of weakness – all of the things in life that are truly worth celebrating!
How is Purim celebrated?
On the celebration of special Biblical occasions, it is important to remember that our joy should be rooted in the Lord and His power. We can do this by offering up our thanks and praise to Him for each blessing we receive. Devoting a special time of reflection and prayer as well as a daily deep Bible study, can be an effective way to connect with God’s presence, bringing clarity and contentment as we realize just how beloved we all are! During the celebration of His appointed Feasts, incorporating scripture into your worship allows us to be inspired by His words and gain strength from being reminded that He is always with us through all of our seasons, no matter what they bring. Celebrating in gratitude helps to focus our hearts on the promises of God so that we may keep trusting that He will never leave our side.
What is the meaning behind Purim?
God is always working all things together – both good and bad – for His perfect plan and purpose. In the book of Esther in the Bible, God used a woman named Esther and her cousin Mordecai to save God’s people from certain death and deliver God’s message. God orchestrated their courageous actions with precision, using their faithfulness to reveal His goodness. God was there even when it seemed like He wasn’t, so we can trust that He will do the same for us. No matter what situation we are facing, God has a plan and by trusting Him we can be sure that everything will turn out in His favor so that God gets the glory in the end.

Celebrating this event is an important reminder for us to remember and recognize the power of our Father in Heaven. It is a reminder that God can, and will, work through His children to guide them to His purpose behind all circumstances. It’s a fantastic story of trust and courage: no matter how dire or scary the future looks, have no fear knowing that God is in control and has a plan that He is working that you can not see. It also allows us to remind our children each generation that when we put our faith in God and follow the path He has chosen for us, there is nothing He cannot do – and we get to be a part of His plan!
The feast of Purim is a time to remember how the Father delivered His people from certain death. It’s a time to celebrate His faithfulness and provision. And it’s also a time to reflect on the meaning behind the holiday and what it means for us today. As we celebrate Purim, let us remember that even when we can’t see Him at work, God is always faithful. He is always working out everything for our good (Romans 8:28). When we trust Him and turn back to Him with all of our hearts, He will redeem us just as He redeemed His people long ago. If you haven’t already, take some time this Purim season to repent and study the story, better yet, study the whole Bible from Genesis 1:1 forward. As you do, I pray that you will fall more in love with our great Redeemer and be encouraged by His never-ending faithfulness!
