What is Manna and why should I care?

by | Did You Know

We first hear about manna being given for the Israelites in the wilderness. What is it?
Would you be interested to know that God is still feeding it to us today?
We can’t survive without it.

“Be strong, be bold, don’t be afraid or frightened of them, for Adonai your God is going with you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6) These words were spoken by Moses to Joshua as he was commissioning him to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land. But they are also words that encourage us today. Regardless of what situation we find ourselves in, God is with us and will never leave us. This truth gives us strength and courage to face whatever challenges come our way.

What is manna and where do we first hear about it in scripture

One example of God’s faithfulness is seen in His provision of manna for the Israelites while they were wandering in the wilderness. Manna was a supernatural food that God provided for them on a daily basis. It was enough to sustain them physically, but it also symbolized His spiritual provision for them as well.” (Exodus 16:15) Just as He did for the Israelites in the desert so many years ago, God continues to provide for us today – both physically and spiritually. If you’re looking for encouragement today, remember that no matter what situation you’re in, God is with you always! And just like He provided manna for the Israelites in their wilderness, He will continue to provide everything you need – both physically and spiritually in your wilderness seasons. So don’t be discouraged or fearful, because our loving Father is taking care of you every step of the way with a plan that you can’t see!

God’s truth and peace are what we need in life, and He is graciously ready to provide just that. God was providing for His people and guiding them even as they journeyed through the wilderness. This is a great reminder that God’s way of provision far exceeds the world’s standards, and many times our answers have been here all along if we simply seek God first. We can take comfort in knowing that God will provide when we trust Him completely. Choose today to go all in with our Heavenly Father – heart and soul – and trust Him for your provision for whatever season you are in. He will always provide; it may not look like you thought it would, but He will give you what you need.

How did the Israelites receive manna in the wilderness

During the Israelites’ time in the wilderness, God provided them with manna from Heaven. He supplied them with grace and mercy from above each day so that they could enjoy the grace of provision. The manna was a reminder of God’s faithfulness and His great love for His chosen people. They never lacked what they needed for the day; it was an unexpected source of sustenance that provided for every human and animal need, purely out of grace. Many of the Israelites were so fearful of the unknown in their desert that they failed to see the miracle of the blessings in the midst of their circumstances. They received manna as evidence of tangible blessings that came down from heaven to feed their spirits, souls and physical bodies each morning. This miraculous grace is a lesson for all of us to depend on Him wholeheartedly and remain joyful in times of trial, relying on God’s grace to sustain us through every season.

What can we learn from the story of manna

The story of manna in the Bible teaches us a valuable lesson about God’s character and care for His people. He provides for us in the wilderness and He is with us always, watching over us and making sure He meets our daily needs. He is faithful to provide for us, no matter what desert season we may find ourselves in at any point of our lives. So let us trust Him for His provision and be reminded that He will never leave us nor forsake us; He will always stay close by to provide for every need we have. May we take courage as we fix our eyes on Yeshua our Messiah, trusting Him to be our provider!

What does Manna look like for us today?

Our manna today is His Word, the Holy Bible. God gave the Israelites bread from Heaven to nourish them and fill them with life; similarly, Our Heavenly Father provides us with manna-like bread from the scriptures of the Bible. Our provision of His daily bread for us to get through the day comes when deep studying and applying God’s word to our hearts and lives to tackle the issues of the day. Our manna – daily bread tells us what is truth, answers our questions about life, and brings us closer in relationship with the Father and understanding His will for us. To live a whole life fully devoted to God, we must develop a personal relationship with Him through the study of the whole Bible. It is relevant to all our lives. Our Heavenly Father has promised that He would always provide for our needs to sustain us every day – so let us read His word every morning to receive our Manna for the day!

The Israelites were sustained in the wilderness by manna from Heaven. This was an amazing physical manifestation of God’s love and care for His people. Since then He has never stopped providing for His followers. Be encouraged that when we face difficult times or struggles with mental health, we can turn back to the Father, repent, and study the whole Bible from Genesis 1:1 to the last word in Revelation. He is faithful and will provide what we need for our journey – both physically and spiritually. Let us take hope by the story of manna as we continue on our path He has planned for each of us.

Exodus 16
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I am about to rain bread from heaven for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law or not. He is still feeding us His manna today.

Later in the New Testament, the disciples asked Yeshua how to pray. In this prayer that He taught them, He still references the Manna that YHWH has for us. Meaning It’s still relevant today.

The Prayer we should pray everyday:

Matthew 6
Our Father in heaven! May your Name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us the food we need today. Forgive us what we have done wrong, as we to have forgiven those who have wronged us. And do not lead us into hard testing, but keep us safe from the Evil One. In the prayer He says to The Father, “Give us the food we need today.”

The father created us to hunger for a food that only he can provide. He gives us daily manna to eat. Yet we don’t pick it up and eat it. We ignore it. We are to busy to take the time to eat it. We rather have something else to eat. We let His word collect dust. And we try to do life without it. Then we cry out to God that we are starved. His manna has been there the whole time. He gives us enough for each day. We can’t save it for tomorrow. He gives us fresh manna daily. But we have to pick it up and eat it, In reality, read it!

Read His word.

What a delightful thought!

I invite you to search the Truth yourself.

Test it. (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

Please go to your Bible and study the entire story. See firsthand what His word says and what He wants to show you. I always check several versions to allow the Spirit to show me the difference and truth. I recommend you do the same.
