If so, then this blog post is for you! We’re going to talk about false prophets: what they are, how to recognize them, and why it’s important to be on the lookout for them. By the end of this post, hopefully you’ll feel equipped and empowered to protect yourself from being deceived by these kinds of people. So let’s get started!
God warns us to watch out for false prophets because they will lead us astray
We are called to trust and have faith in God, who Himself warns us to be aware of false prophets because they will lead us astray. It is important to align everything with God’s Word, believe it and trust that God is who He says He is. In order to recognize truth from lies, we need to stay in the Word and remain close to our Heavenly Father in a firsthand relationship. By doing this we protect ourselves from the deceptions of false prophets who preach falsehoods. Through trust and faith in our loving Creator, we ensure our spirits are not corrupted by deceitful words.
There are many ways to recognize a false prophet, including their appearance and their message
As believers we must stay mindful that false prophets could be anywhere and stay alert to identify their presence. One of the ways to stay vigilant is by reading, studying, and examining what scripture says about true prophets and their message. We must take every thought captive and ensure that each word we are hearing aligns with the God’s Word. This isn’t an easy task, which is why the Adonai instructs us to stay in His Word daily so we are able to recognize any prophecy or teaching that does not reflect Him and His character. Let’s stay rooted in our Messiah so that we can identify a false prophet when they enter our midst!
We should be careful not to listen to false prophets, even if they seem convincing
Preachers, teachers, and prophets can be very convincing in their words and stories. But the Bible tells us in 1 John 2:27 to be careful with what we listen to and accept as truth. If a one of these influencers tells us something that does not line up with the Word of God, we should toss it out – no matter how convincing it may sound. Rather, seek truth and wisdom firsthand from God Himself through a personal relationship with Him so as to truly understand what He desires for your life. Test the words of preachers and teachers around you; pray for discernment. At the end of the day, only trust God Himself and His Word – if leaders speak truth from Him, then God’s Spirit will give you Shalom peace.
If we are unsure about whether someone is a false prophet, we can ask God for guidance
God has given us the whole Bible to guide us on this earth. When we are unsure about any prophet or teacher, God’s love indicates that He will show us the truth through His Word if we ask with humble hearts and an earnest desire for knowledge. God does not leave His children in the dark, so if we ask for guidance He will provide it! God’s wisdom and truth is found in the whole of Scripture, so we should not seek answers from isolated passages; instead a full study of the whole Bible is important to gain His insight on any particular topic. God loves His children and promises to guide them through sincere prayer and Biblical study – so give yourself the gift of a real, eternal relationship with the Father reading the whole story of God to understand His love!
Ultimately, it is up to each of us to decide who we will listen to and follow
Yeshua teaches us that the whole Bible is true and, when we trust in His teachings, He will lead us on the path of truth. When we are at a crossroads in life and we cannot decide who to listen to or follow, Yeshua reminds us that, in Him, lies the answer. We can put our faith and trust in Yeshua, for He is the way, the truth and the life. His word reveals what is true and His guidance never fails those who rely on Him. Instead of listening to our own heart or relying solely on human wisdom, Yeshua calls us to trust the Father above all else so that He may lead us back into fullness of life and truth.
False prophets are all around us, and it is important that we learn how to recognize them. They can be very convincing, but God tells us not to listen to them. If we are unsure about whether someone is a false prophet, we can ask Him for guidance. It is ultimately up to each of us to decide who we will listen to and follow, but in regards to our eternity, it is crucial that we turn back to the Father and study His Word so that we can make an informed decision. So let’s commit ourselves wholeheartedly to following Yeshua our Messiah – the true Prophet – and reject anyone who would try to lead us astray.
Test the Spirits
Dear friends, don’t trust every spirit. On the contrary, test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Here is how you recognize the Spirit of God: every spirit which acknowledges that Yeshua the Messiah came as a human being is from God, and every spirit which does not acknowledge Yeshua is not from God—in fact, this is the spirit of the Anti-Messiah. You have heard that he is coming. Well, he’s here now, in the world already! You, children, are from God and have overcome the false prophets, because He who is in you IS greater than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore, they speak from the world’s viewpoint; and the world listens to them. We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God doesn’t listen to us. This is how we distinguish the Spirit of truth from the spirit of error.
