Why won’t God accept
my sacrifices and good works to Him?
“Samuel said,
“Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
as in obeying the voice of the LORD?
Behold,
to obey is better than sacrifice,
and to listen than the fat of rams.”
1 Samuel 15:22
What is your source of truth
Before you can find the answer for the question above, you must first determine your source of “truth.” Sadly, the world today doesn’t want truth, they want unity; harmony and peace by their definition, not as defined from the Holy Bible. They don’t want to feel conviction of their sins, they want to do whatever feels good to them without any consequences. They don’t want to be bothered by what is good and right, they want to focus on their self gratification, satisfying the lust of the flesh. This thought process leads to self-destruction. When we are wholeheartedly walking with the Holy Spirit, we have no desire to feed our fleshly desires.
“This I say then,
Walk in the Spirit,
and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”
Galatians 5:16
“Love not the world,
neither the things that are in the world.
If any man love the world,
the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world,
the lust of the flesh,
and the lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life,
is not of the Father, but is of the world.
And the world passeth away,
and the lust thereof:
but he that doeth the will of God
for ever.”
1 John 2:15-17
I recently saw a post where someone said, “I want to enjoy my youth. I’ll think about God later.” That desire can certainly be fulfilled because God gives you free-will to choose how you want to live your life, and choose what pagan gods you want to serve. You definitely have choices.
However, know that God wants you to choose to obey and follow Him and let Him be your source of truth. Scripture from Genesis to Revelation is very clear that if you choose to go your own way and create your own “truth,” be aware that your man-made dream won’t turn out how you have envisioned.
Don’t take my word for it, check out the story in Luke 16:19-31. There you will learn about a man that had a similar idea; live life on his terms. We are told what happened when his life story didn’t go as he had planned and how when he realized his mistake and wanted to repent, it was too late. Don’t let that be you.
Choose today!
Consider for a moment that you are a human who might not know everything or have all the answers, ok? With that in mind, who can you turn to and trust to see the big picture and know what’s best for you? There are lots of options for you; who are you going to believe? The Creator of Heaven and earth who also created you, who is the God of Love and who cannot lie?
“God is not a man, that he should lie;
neither the son of man, that he should repent:
hath he said, and shall he not do it?
or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”
Numbers 23:19
“For I, YHWH do not change.
Therefore you Have not been consumed.
Return to me,
and I will return o you.”
Malachi 3:6-7
Choose to believe Adonai your God,
the one who will return to you if you return to Him.
Or, are you going to believe imperfect sinful humans in this world who can’t know the heart, mind, and will of Adonai our God? People can only offer you opinions that could not possibly be based on anything you need to stake your life and where you spend eternity.
The answer to the question of today!
Why won’t God accept my sacrifices and good works to Him?
You may be thinking, I’m a good person, I tithe, I go to church every time the doors are open, I serve at church, teach Sunday School or small group, I do good for the community, everyone likes me; God is happy with me. Is He? Let’s find out today what His Word says so you can make sure you are on the right path and that He is indeed happy with you. In today’s lesson, God is going to check your heart. He is going to see what your motives are, and He’s going to show you that He knows what they are. There’s no fooling God.
So here’s the truth straight from your Creator Himself in the verses below. Let’s see what His Word says, and go from there. Before reading it, pray that the Father will show you His deeper meaning here. You may have read this many times before; but today, pray first that He will help you read it through fresh open eyes to see what He wants to show you this time. (Hint: do that every time before reading His Word. You will be amazed!)
“Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom;
give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.
To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD:
I am full of the burnt offerings of rams,
and the fat of fed beasts;
and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
When ye come to appear before me,
who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
Bring no more vain oblations;
incense is an abomination unto me;
the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies,
I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth:
they are a trouble unto me;
I am weary to bear them.
And when ye spread forth your hands,
I will hide mine eyes from you:
yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear:
your hands are full of blood.
Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings
from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
Learn to do well;
seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD:
though your sins be as scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they be red like crimson,
they shall be as wool.
If ye be willing and obedient,
ye shall eat the good of the land:
But if ye refuse and rebel,
ye shall be devoured with the sword:
for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.”
Isaiah 1:10-20
Wait! What is God saying here?
It may sound harsh, so let me explain to help you understand. In this passage, Adonai is showing us that He was sick of their fake offerings and ritual sacrifices. They thought they were being slick living life on their terms, then coming together for their regular worship and sacrifice to Him doing the ritual duties they had been taught – thinking they were fooling and appeasing God. They found out real quick on that day that He could hear and see everything; they weren’t fooling Him. He had enough of their lies and deceptive practices and was setting the record straight that day.
Now, before you judge those stubborn stiff-necked Israelites back in the day, be aware that this message applies to every human from that day until the end of time. Here, God is teaching us that it is NOT ok for us to live in sin and then gather on Sundays to “sacrifice” our time being in a church building or serving, thereby checking off our “God box” for the week.
He doesn’t want us to just go through the motions of what is expected from His believers; exercises, duties and obligations we have been taught through the years. He wants our sacrifices to come from a heart of obedience and love for Him, not out of obligation. He teaches us throughout His Holy Bible, what He wants from us so that there would be no questions. If we aren’t serving Him out of love and respect, don’t bother. You don’t get credit for half-hearted sacrifice. Be clear, He prefers obedience over sacrifice.
“Samuel said,
“Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
as in obeying the voice of the LORD?
Behold,
to obey is better than sacrifice,
and to listen than the fat of rams.”
1 Samuel 15:22
When you are wholeheartedly obeying and following Adonai your Creator that adores you, you develop a very close bond with Him. You learn His ways as you allow Him to teach you. Out of that close, wholehearted, bonded relationship with Him, your sacrifices to Him come out of a place of love and devotion to Adonai; very different than serving out of obligation. Instead of dread and stress, you have joy and purpose for Him that you never felt before. It’s a game-changer! His way comes with His indescribable Shalom Peace!
See God’s everlasting love?
In His amazing love, grace, and mercy for us, always always always, after He corrects and teaches us, He offers forgiveness if we will turn away from our sins and obey Him.
He tells us exactly what we need to do.
He doesn’t leave you wondering what is expected.
“Thus says the Lord:
“Stand by the roads, and look,
and ask for the ancient paths,
where the good way is;
and walk in it,
and find rest for your souls.”
Jeremiah 6:16
He is saying, study His Word! Go back to the beginning, the ancient paths that He breathed in the Holy Bible. It has all the instruction you need to follow Him and spend eternity with Him, follow it and find rest for your soul!
He is the ONLY Living God!
His Holy Bible is the ONLY Living Word!
His Holy Spirit is alive and teaches you God’s truth’s!
