Who would others say your god is based on your actions?

by | Dear Daisy

Dear Daisy,
I grew up in a conservative Baptist church and I believed what I was taught even if it wasn’t the whole Bible they were teaching. While I grew up believing there was one God and one Savior, as an adult, I’m discovering that there are a plethora of man-made gods that people can choose from today. I was shocked and amazed to find out what was going on outside my pigeon-holed “religion” that I lived in. I used to assume that when people talked about God, we were all talking about the same one, and when they talked about the Bible, I assumed the same. Why are there so many gods? Why are people not wanting to worship our Creator, the living God? Does it even matter anymore who or if we worship? Please help me make sense of this. ~Signed, does anyone worship The Creator anymore?

Dear does anyone worship The Creator anymore,
As the saying goes, actions speak louder than words. Based on your actions and your lifestyle, who would observers say is your god that you worship? What gets priority in your life? Where is your focus placed for peace and hope? Most of us are guilty of believing only what we were taught growing up. As we get older, we learn that God has lots of competition for central focus in our life.

Thankfully, YHWH God, our Creator, the only living God, has written His commands on our heart (Jeremiah 31:33) so that we know right from wrong, good from evil, and truth from lies. The best news about that is it doesn’t matter where in the world you live, you have access to your Creator’s truth on your heart regardless of your upbringing. God wrote His truth on every heart, and Jesus died for all sins; it’s our choice whether we follow Him wholeheartedly and reap the benefits for obedience.

Who is your teacher of God’s truth?

The correct answer would be: the Holy Spirit. Scripture says that He is your teacher (1John 2:27) and is able to speak to you and remind you which way is God’s way when you are at a crossroad to make a decision. He is always there showing you His way to go, but it’s up to you to decide if you want to follow Him, or choose your own path. When you choose your own path it comes with severe consequences that you soon learn about on your desired journey away from God. That path comes with valuable lessons as well; lessons that build your testimony and will hopefully lead you back to Jesus and repentance, so that you can continue on His path that leads to spending eternity in Heaven, rather than the opposite of Heaven.

Since God’s Holy Word tells us that He has written His truths on our hearts, we also learn that the Holy Spirit can direct our path. The Holy Spirit will show us what is real and what isn’t so that we can choose wisely who we should be worshipping and serving. We are never alone (Matthew 28:20), He is always with us, inviting us to follow Him on the path of righteousness. When we make a mistake and choose poorly, He is still there waiting for us to realize our mistake and turn back to Him. That’s how much He loves us.

It matters to God

YHWH, our Creator, the only living true God, cares about us and created us to worship Him only. It matters very much to Him who we worship. He does not force us to worship Him; He gives us choices. With those choices come consequences for our actions. He blesses the obedient and curses the disobedient. It’s His right to do that; He created us.

A number of times throughout the Holy Bible, God tells a story about “the potter and the clay.” When does God repeat Himself? When it’s important! The potter and the clay symbolism is important, that’s why He repeats this analogy for us. The moral to this repeated story is to show that the clay has no right to tell the potter what to make of him. The potter is in charge, and in control. The clay is to be flexible and willing to take the shape the potter creates. The same principle applies to us humans. Who are we to question God and His plan? Even Job in the Holy Bible learns this valuable lesson from God.

It matters to God who we worship, and He blesses those who choose to wholeheartedly worship Him. When we choose Jesus over all that the world has to offer, God, our “potter,” begins to shape us into who He created us to be. This process is challenging but He blesses us with such perfect peace as we trust Him and walk out the process together. It is through this trusting relationship with Jesus that you are able to discover your true identity that can only be found through Him.

What’s going on out there?

Once you get a peak outside your lane of learning and discover that there are countless options of man-made gods to worship, it will blow your mind at first. While you have probably heard of, or know of, other church denominations, what most people don’t know is the vastness of a biblical worldview of powerless gods available to choose from. “Man” has created so many options for worship with the intent to distract you from serving the only one true living God that created Heaven and earth and breathed life into us.

In my experience and observation from the Holy Spirit teaching me about this subject over the years, I would say that it takes someone with strong faith in Jesus to learn about all the man-made god options offered in this world today and not be swayed. Someone with weak faith can easily get sucked into believing in the fake god versions and be deceived into thinking that the worldly options give you a sense of being in control of your life while offering quicker and easier solutions that don’t judge you.

Once many realize the fake option they chose for instant gratification doesn’t last long, they usually wind up on a hamster wheel doing the same thing over and over to regenerate that fake pleasure feeling, thereby wearing themselves out in the process. Other people will incorporate numerous fake options to supplement the ones they are already trying. Then, before they know it, they have created a buffet of man-made gods that they are addicted to, and feel like they have no choice but to stick with their plan. The enemy has lied to them and caused them to believe that God will never forgive them, so they are stuck in this rut they have created for themselves.

Examples of man-made worship and pagan gods

As I am writing this blog, this past week, a new statue was erected in Houston, Texas area of a golden Hindu monkey faced pagan god that many already worship. The information about it touts that it is the fastest “prayer” answering god. There is even a video clip of a former US president showing the interviewer his tiny replica of this monkey god that he carries in his pocket. (Pause for head-shaking moment) In addition, about a year ago, a statue was erected in New York atop one of the government buildings of a golden pagan Medusa goddess idol to worship. Man-made gods are everywhere in the world and most don’t even notice them, while so many others are actively worshipping them instead of our Creator, YHWH God.

It is not possible for me to list the thousands of pagan gods and man-made worship options available to you, but I will list a few popular ones. All of these offerings are a huge deception and many are believing in the temporary false hope and false peace they sell. When I say “sell,” that is a good clue that they are man-made.

Salvation through Jesus is FREE!

To worship man-made gods, you must purchase and continue spending money to worship them. False gods are a money-making industry all on its own. Here are a just a few:

  1. Yoga
  2. Meditation
  3. Crystals, burning sage, etc.

Each of these are demonic and fall under the title in scripture that God calls “divination;” they are in direct opposition to God’s commands for His children. He has stated very directly in numerous passages in the Holy Bible, that worshipping anything other than Him leads to eternal damnation.

The short explanation of these examples:

  1. Yoga: it is NOT exercise! That’s a lie from the enemy. It is actually a Hindu worship practice. If you notice, the teacher always thanks you for “practicing” with them. You are practicing inviting various demonic spirits into your body through every single pose. Do your research and learn the truth about the origin of yoga; it is a Buddhist Hindu ritual to summon demonic spirits into your body thereby worshipping them. It is intentionally deceitfully advertised as a peaceful de-stressing exercise. There is no such thing as “Christian” yoga, or thinking about Jesus while you do it to cancel out anything weird happening to you. Yoga is demonic, period. If you are practicing yoga, you will have a heavy price to pay if you don’t stop right now and repent.
  2. Meditation: meditation taught by clearing your mind and listening to guided prompts from facilitators of this New Age meditation movement to “de-stress,” is literally leading you away from God. That euphoric feeling, aura, colors, and objects people claim to see during this demonic practice is NOT God your Creator; it’s a demonic pagan god you are seeing and worshipping. Anything that teaches you to focus on anything other than your Creator, YHWH God, and His Holy Word is leading you down a dark path away from Him. This demonic divination practice gives you temporary fake peace while filling you with evil spirits. Stop this practice immediately and repent. Jesus will forgive you and heal you from the demons you have invited into your soul by practicing this type of divination. The Holy Bible teaches us to meditate on God’s Word only. Nothing else should be getting our focus. Your Creator, YHWH God, is the only one who can de-stress you and give you the everlasting peace you are searching for.
  3. Crystals, and burning sage to ward off evil spirits: Crystals are NOT magic, they DO NOT have power to do anything for you. To wear them, kiss them, pray to them, etc. is straight-up divination; they are NOT helping, healing, or protecting you. This practice is allowing the enemy to put a curse on you because you are choosing to put your hope in a ROCK!!! instead of Jesus, who is The ONLY ROCK you should place your faith in!Burning sage to get rid of evil spirits is actually doing the opposite. This practice is literally inviting evil spirits into you, and into your home. Stop this practice immediately and repent.

“The LORD is my rock,
and my fortress,
and my deliverer;
my God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
my buckler, and the horn of my salvation,
and my high tower.”
Psalms 18:2

I could write a book about all of the options available, but for the sake of this blog, I will keep it to these few. Hopefully you get the idea and can see the truth. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help you see His truth here. Ask Him to search your heart and reveal to you anything that you are doing that grieves Him. All of us are guilty of unintentionally, or intentionally, putting things and people of this world before Him in our lives. If you repent and turn from these wicked ways, He will forgive you. Don’t take my word for it, ask the Holy Spirit, He will show you.

“10 There shall not be found among you
any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire,
or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD:
and because of these abominations
the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.”
Deuteronomy 18:10-12

Which “god” do people see in you?

Who do you worship? Which god do people see you worship? When people observe you, do they see something in you that they want? Like the peace that comes through a personal relationship with Jesus our Savior and Messiah? Or are you one of the those that got sucked into the deception of worshipping pagan gods and their rituals?

  • What does your god look like?
  • What god does your music communicate?
  • What god does your language communicate?
  • What god does your attitude, responses, reflect?
  • What god does your troubled times represent?

If you “tell” others that you have chosen Jesus, does anyone see His fruits in you and want the God that you claim has changed your life? If not, it’s time to stop and pray for God to help you become an accurate representation of who He is. Pray that the Holy Spirit will help you to accurately represent your Lord and Savior so that He can create an opportunity to use you to be a vessel for Him to leads others to Jesus. Everyone is looking for lasting peace, hope, and love. When they see Jesus and the fruits of His Spirit in you, they are naturally drawn to you wanting what you have. If your “relationship” with Jesus doesn’t clearly reflect who you worship and the benefits that come with a real relationship with Him, then it’s time for a “heart check.”

“If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them,
their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.”
Psalms 132:12

What is a covenant that is spoken of in that verse?

Covenant = salvation in grace through faith in Jesus

When we invite Jesus into our hearts and willingly choose to wholeheartedly follow Him, we are saved through grace and our faith in Jesus that allows us to enjoy His spiritual gifts and fruits. He blesses His obedient wholehearted followers with His fruits of the spirit; that’s how you will know who someone worships without having to ask them. You will see their spiritual fruits. If someone says they love Jesus, look for the fruits to confirm their claim. Many “Christians” say they love Jesus and are going to Heaven but are missing His fruits that prove their statement. Look for these fruits in people:

“22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”
Galatians 5:22-26

This is how you recognize those who are not worshipping Jesus, our Savior, but worshipping what temporarily satisfies the flesh:

“19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these;
Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like:
of the which I tell you before, as I have also told
you in time past,
that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Galatians 5:19-21

Take note:

“I am not your teacher, the Holy Spirit is.
I’m just the messenger leading you back to Jesus and His truth.”
Daisy Hawkins ~ 1John 2:27, Jeremiah 33:

Heart check time

Jesus is coming back soon to get His Bride. Let’s make sure your heart is right with Him. Don’t complicate the process for salvation. Keep it simple. Whether you have prayed this before, rededicate your life today and go “all in” with Him. It’s time for a deeper relationship with your Creator, Adonai.

Do the ABC’s and repent today.

  • A: Admit that you are a sinner. (Romans 3:23, Isaiah 64:6, Ephesians 2:8-9)
  • B: Believe in your heart that Jesus is the son of God and that He died for your sins and rose from the dead for you. (John 3:16-18, 1Corinthians 15:1-4)
  • C: Call on Jesus and repent of your sins and turn back to Him and ask Jesus to show you the way. (Romans 10:9-13, John 14:6)

In closing,

Always ask Jesus what you should do in every situation. The Holy Spirit will lead you and guide you. If it’s not okay with Him, He will check your spirit and you will have an uneasy feeling and doubt about going forward. Always follow Jesus; NOT your heart; our hearts are fickle and can’t be trusted. Listen to the Holy Spirit; He is trying to protect you. You have a choice to obey or ignore. Choose to obey and stay under His protection.

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick;
who can understand it?”
Jeremiah 17:9

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.“
Proverbs 3:5

“When you know you grow!”

May God bless you and keep you,
Love Daisy
