The coming of the Son of Man
Matthew 24: 29-31 – The Coming of the Son of Man
“Immediately after the anguish of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will give no light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with the mighty blast of a trumpet, and they will gather his chosen ones from all over the world—from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.
Isaiah 13:10 says, The heavens will be black above them; the stars will give no light. The sun will be dark when it rises, and the moon will provide no light.
Isaiah 34:4 The heavens above will melt away and disappear like a rolled-up scroll. The stars will fall from the sky like withered leaves from a grapevine, or shriveled figs from a fig tree.
Ezekiel 32:7 When I blot you out, I will veil the heavens and darken the stars. I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not give you its light.
Joel 2:31 The sun will become dark, and the moon will turn blood red
before that great and terrible day of the Lord arrives.
Isaiah 60:19 “No longer will you need the sun to shine by day, nor the moon to give its light by night, for the Lord, your God will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.
Revelation 22:5 And there will be no night there—no need for lamps or sun—for the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign forever and ever.
Psalm 102:26 They will perish, but you remain forever; they will wear out like old clothing. You will change them like a garment and discard them.
Psalm 50:3 Our God approaches, and he is not silent. Fire devours everything in his way, and a great storm rages around him.
2 Peter 3:10-13 But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames. But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.
Psalm 96:13 He is coming! He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with justice, and the nations with his truth.
Revelation 1:7 Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven. And everyone will see him— even those who pierced him. And all the nations of the world will mourn for him. Yes! Amen!
His word says it all.
Let’s dig a little deeper…
End Times. The coming of the son of man. What does that look like and are you ready?
In Matthew 24, Jesus Christ gives us a detailed description of the events that will take place leading up to and during the end times. This includes such things as wars and natural disasters, famines and pestilences, false prophets and an increase in wickedness. As believers, we are not to be alarmed by these things, but rather we are to remain firm in our faith and trust in God’s plan for our salvation. Are you ready for the end times? Read on for some tips on how to stay prepared.
The son of man will come in the clouds with great power and glory
The Son of Man will come with great power and glory for his followers in Heaven and on earth. His coming is promised, and it is a glorious thing to look forward to! We have the assurance that no matter what may come our way here below, the Kingdom of God is kept secure by its King who watches over us faithfully. The Lord will come in clouds, surrounded by dazzling light and unimaginable beauty, to restore all things in Him. He lifts us up beyond ourselves, gives us strength to bear our crosses until we join Him in that heavenly place where hope carries us till He comes again in power. Let us fix our eyes on that magnificent day when He arrives across the horizon-the Savior of mankind, reigning victorious!
He will gather His elect from all corners of the world
The world can be challenging, and we feel incredibly small when faced with it. But in Isaiah 43 verses 5-6, God says “Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east and gather them from the west.” This is an incredible reminder that through the power of our Lord Jesus Christ and His everlasting love, no matter how far away we may feel, He is with us at all times. He will gather His elect from all corners of the world – no matter where you are or what challenge you face, you have a powerful Shepherd who will protect and lead you home.
All people will see Him coming
We can rejoice, knowing that all people will be able to identify Jesus coming in the clouds. We can have hope that when He returns, no matter where we are or what is going on around us, we will be filled with faith and joy to see Him coming as the King of Glory. Let us pray each day for strength and courage as we await His triumphant return!
He will come to judge the living and the dead
The Day of Judgment is an inevitable part of life; a day when each of us will be called to account for how we have lived our lives. In preparation for this day, we should strive to live according to Godly principles and seek forgiveness for our transgressions. The Bible reminds us that no one can escape the judgment before our Lord: “For it is written: ‘As I live,’ saith the Lord, ‘every knee shall bow to me and every tongue shall confess to God.'” Knowing that He will come to judge us should encourage us to maintain vigilance in holiness and righteousness so that we may stand firm in the face of divine scrutiny. Only then, at the moment of judgment, can we be certain our Lord will have mercy on us.
Are you ready for His coming?
The wait for the Lord’s coming is long, but it will ultimately be worth all of our efforts. We have to remember that He has promised He is coming. His promises are true and we can trust in them for hope and strength during this time. As guided by scripture, we should remain faithful and keep watch, ready to follow Him wherever He leads us. In His word, He asks us to stay awake while waiting with hearts full of faith and love instead of doubts or fear; so let us fill our hearts with optimism and courage from His Holy Spirit as we wait eagerly for the Lord’s coming. Trusting in the Lord will bring peace because we know that whatever happens will help grow our relationship with Him even more!
