Learning the Parable of the Hidden Treasure!

Matthew 13:44

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy, he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

In earlier parables, Yeshua was talking about how to start small. Here He talks about the Kingdom of Heaven being a treasure. He alludes to how great a value it is. In reality, Yeshua is the true treasure. In Him are treasures of wisdom, knowledge, righteousness, grace, joy, and peace. The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field that when the man finds it…he gave up everything to own it.

Let’s point out several things here:
  • The treasure can be found,
  • The man happened to find it,

but it doesn’t mean that he was searching for it.

Then the piece where the scripture says: – IN HIS JOY- means the treasure brings joy,

  • Which means it’s worth it.

And the fact that he hid it and bought the land to make sure it was rightfully his treasure means that he did what he had to do to make sure that he knew it completely belonged to him. Also- it shows that anyone can have this treasure available to them. Whoever owned the “land” before did not know it was theirs for the taking- or they would never have sold it. That person unknowingly sold a priceless gift. So many are blinded to the priceless eternal gift YHWH offers right in front of them. Instead, they see YHWH as an obstacle to getting the things they think will bring them joy.

Romans 6:23 says, For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus our Messiah.

Surrendering your life to Yeshua comes with so many blessings. Yes, when you surrender your life to him you give up all of “your” ways of doing things and follow him. His blessings and gifts far outweigh what you give up. You have spent your whole life searching for love, joy, and peace, to no avail. He has all of that waiting to give you. It doesn’t mean life will be perfect. What it means is that his love, joy, and peace will help you float through life trials.

I’m a living testament to that.

Let’s dig a little deeper into the parable of the Hidden Treasure

It’s a tale that has been told for centuries, and it’s one that can teach us a lot about ourselves. In this parable, a man discovers a treasure hidden in a field, and he joyfully goes and sells everything he has to buy that field.

What does this story mean for us? The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field. (Matthew 13:44).

In other words, when we discover Yeshua our Messiah – who is the ultimate hidden treasure – we should be so overjoyed with what we’ve found that we’re willing to give up everything else in order to have Him in our lives. Are you searching for the hidden treasure today? If so, I encourage you to keep looking until you find Him. He is worth more than anything this world can offer!

Yeshua told a parable about a man who found hidden treasure in a field

Yeshua taught us through the parable of the hidden treasure in a field that we experience true joy when meaning is found in our lives. He encourages us to seek out that which is valuable and when we do, to hold closely to it despite hardships or obstacles. The man in the parable realized that he had been given a great gift with this treasure and was so filled with joy he was willing to give up all he had for it. Every day, Yeshua presents us with opportunities and gifts we may not even recognize at first, just as the man overlooked this hidden treasure until he purchased the field. We can choose every day to look closely at God’s work in our midst and be thankful for what He offers, as this man did when he rejoiced over his find.

The man was so excited about his find that he went and sold everything he had to buy the field

The man’s remarkable discovery was not achieved without effort or courage; it was a great sacrifice. We can learn an important lesson from his story, which is that no venture worth fulfilling in life comes without risk. The man was so determined to make the best of his opportunity and achieve something great that he sold all he had to purchase the field. His faithfulness to act on what would surely seem like a bold move ultimately paid off. Those of us who are considering taking such a leap of faith must remember that our Father in Heaven watches over us and plans only good things for us – He will meet us where we are and make something beautiful in us.

Yeshua said that the Kingdom of Heaven is like this hidden treasure

In the gospel according to Matthew, Yeshua reveals that the Kingdom of Heaven is like a hidden treasure found in a field. This conveys an important truth – that although we may not be able to visibly perceive Yeshua our Messiah, we can seek Him out and find Him if we are prepared to make an effort. Through Him, believers can access this hidden treasure, and be comforted by the knowledge that He is with them always. Our faith in Him leads us to greater understanding of who He is and how He works. Taking up our cross brings us closer to Him as we submit ourselves to His will. Each time we encounter Him in scripture or prayer, we come closer to discovering the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven – just as if it were a hidden treasure waiting for us to discover its incredible beauty. He is the ultimate treasure and gift to us.

We need to be excited about finding God’s kingdom and be willing to give up everything to follow him

As believers, it’s our joyful duty to spread the good news of Yeshua our Messiah and seek out His kingdom. Yeshua promised that in His Kingdom there would be peace and joy, but sometimes our trials in life make it challenging to stay focused on seeking Him first. In those moments, let us take a step back for a moment and think about the ultimate reward of abiding in Him and embracing His love without reserve or hesitation. Let us remember the precious sacrifice He made for us when He gave up everything for our salvation. All He asks of us is that we put away our worldly pursuits and idols and devote ourselves fully to Him – because this kind of devotion is what brings true fulfillment in life. Let us recommit ourselves to finding God’s Kingdom each day as we look ahead with excitement so that we may experience His supernatural power, holy love and infinite joy.

When we find the kingdom, our lives will be transformed and we will have true joy

If we make seeking the Kingdom our priority and strive to find it, then the joy that comes with it can be ours. God’s Word promises us that once we find and enter His Kingdom, our lives will be changed in profound ways. We are no longer slaves to sin, but free to live as children of light. Allow God’s truth to transform your life, so that you may experience true joy like never before. That will be a reward beyond any earthly treasure that you could find.

Finding the Kingdom of Heaven is like finding hidden treasure. It is so valuable that we should be willing to give up everything in order to have it. When we find the Kingdom, our lives will be transformed and we will have true joy.
